Auf Grund der drohenden Abschaltung meines alten Internet-Providers, habe ich meine Seite auf einen der Mittwald-Server umgezogen. Sobald mein DNS-Eintrag in die Root-Zone getröpfelt ist, dürften dann auch alle die neue Seite sehen können (die sich nicht so wirklich verändert hat).

Großartige Leistung von den Studenten meiner alten Fakultät. Vielleicht kann ich dem Video ja noch ein paar Klicks mehr bescheren. Vierdient wäre es!

Last week I asked: If it solved global warming, would you give up the TV remote and go back to carting your fat ass over to the television set every time you wanted to change the channel. If it comes down to the cell phone vs. the bee, will we choose to literally blather ourselves to death? Will we continue to tell ourselves that we don’t have to solve environmental problems — we can just adapt: build sea walls instead of stopping the ice caps from melting. Don’t save the creatures of the earth and oceans, just learn to eat the slime and jellyfish that nothing can kill, like Chinese restaurants are already doing.

Maybe you don’t need to talk on your cell phone all the time. Maybe you don’t’ need a bag when you buy a keychain. Americans throw out 100 billion plastic bags a year, and they all take a thousand years to decompose. Ich gehe davon aus, dass die wenigsten Bill Maher kennen. Besonders nicht in Deutschland. Soviel zur Erklärung: Bill Maher moderiert oben genannte Show auf dem US-Kabelsender HBO. Kabelsender bedeutet, dass man dort Dinge zu hören bekommt, die normalerweise nie der Schere (oder den Anwälten) der Rundfunkanstalt FCC entgehen würden. Die Sendung ist ein Mix aus Late-Night-Comedy und Polittalk. Also Harald Schmidt und Sabine Christiansen in einem.

Dieser Auszug, stammt aus einer etwas älteren Folge von “Real Time” und demonstriert sehr gut, wie sehr Maher es schafft einem auf den Zahn zu fühlen. Denn viele seiner Ansprachen sind nicht nur lustig und unterhaltsam, sondern sie bringen die Problematik auf den Punkt. Wenn man noch nichts von Colony Collapse Disorder gehört hat, dann sollte man vielleicht mal nachlesen, oder sich informieren (mp4-Video). Denn das könnte tatsächlich ein Problem sein, dass uns nicht in 10/20 Jahren in den Hintern beißt, sondern schon sehr viel früher!

Wer also des Englischen mächtig ist und sich ein bisschen für US-Politik interessiert, ist bei dieser Sendung genau richtig. Aber hier schon mal eine Warnung: Die sehr liberalen Ansichten von Maher sind nicht jedermanns Sache.

Wenigstens die Rubrik “New Rules”, die das Ende der Sendung bildet, sollte man gesehen haben. Das ist Polit-Comedy in Perfektion!

Eigentlich müsste ich es selbst mit meinen mathematischen Grundkenntnissen wirklich besser wissen!

Die Rallyewelt trauert um Ex-Weltmeister Colin McRae, der im Alter von 39 Jahren bei einem Hubschrauberabsturz ums Leben gekommen ist.

Warum mich das so shockt, kann ich gar nicht so genau sagen, aber dieser Mann war schon immer mein Idol. Es ist für mich unverständlich, warum der Rallye so sehr viel weniger Aufmerksamkeit geschenkt wird, als beispielsweise der Formel 1. Meiner Meinung nach wird den Rallye-Fahrern wesentlich mehr abverlangt und McRae war einer der talentiertesten Fahrer die es gab, auch wenn er das nicht immer in Erfolge verwandeln konnte. Besonders tragisch finde ich, dass ihm so endgültig das Comeback in die WRC verwehrt bleibt.

Der riesige Vorteil war, dass es nichts ausgemacht hat, wenn man mal ein/zwei Folgen verpasst hat. Ebenso konnte man eine Wiederholung anschauen und hatte keine Probleme sich in der Story zurecht zu finden.

An die Stelle dieser Serien sind jetzt Shows wie Lost, Prison Break, Desperate Housewives, 24 und Heroes getreten. Jede Folge endet mit einem Cliffhanger, jede Folge einer Staffel ist von den vorigen Folgen abhängig. Im Fall von Lost, ziehen sich Handlungsstränge sogar über mehrere Staffeln hinweg.

So sehr ich auch diese Shows mag, ich werde nicht gern auf die Folter gespannt. Besonders, wenn mich dann das Ende enttäuscht.
